Exclusive insight: Mick admitted he once planned to take the $20,000 prize but hesitated at the last moment. He revealed to 9Entertainment that he and his Love Island partner Emma had briefly considered a plan to rise and split the cash, but the moment passed when Dylan acted first.
The moment unfolded as host Sophie Monk offered the $20,000 to the islanders. Mick recalls Emma squeezing his hand while the offer was on the table, yet Dylan sprang up before Mick could make his move.
Mick, 27, explains, “Emma and I had an early agreement that I would stand and we’d share the prize,” and he was carefully building suspense. Still, Dylan moved quickly, catching everyone by surprise.
The Love Island Australia Grand Finale is scheduled for Monday, December 15 at 8:30 pm on 9Go! and 9Now.
Mick reflects on the outcome: he was disappointed not to claim the money himself, but he accepts how things played out. “I think I left gracefully, and I’m happy for Dylan. He probably needed the money more than I did,” he jokes.
Regarding their relationship, Mick and Emma are no longer together. Emma joined Mick in leaving the villa hand-in-hand, but the pair have since gone their separate ways. They spent the night after elimination together, yet they have not kept in close contact.
Mick shares that they’ve drifted apart since filming; he currently resides in Melbourne while Emma is on the Gold Coast. Still, he speaks warmly about her: she stood out among the Island’s connections for him, offering an opportunity to be more open and vulnerable than with others in the villa.
